Our Past

In 1965, our founders Don Wightman, Richard Bastian and Richard Prendergast began Instant Copy Services, a tiny one-room print and copy facility in Philadelphia, PA. At the time, no one could have imagined the explosive growth the company would experience over the next six decades. Despite this growth, ICS has maintained a client-centric philosophy established and upheld by its founders.

Our Present

Today, ICS operates out of a magnificent state-of-the-art 250,000 square-foot facility in West Deptford, NJ. More than mail, ICS now offers a complete suite of creative development and production services — from strategic planning through the creative process and into project execution — and manages multi-platform marketing campaigns with agency-like precision and expertise.


Instant Copy Service began operations in Philadelphia on one floor with one small press and one pressman who made all the magic happen. ICS expanded to four floors in this building until a fire five years later forced founders Don Wightman, Richard Bastian and Richard Prendergast to relocate across town.


In this temporary location here on Juniper Street, ICS made a decision that would forever alter the path of its business. The company purchased an Apollo Web Offset Press — and entered the world of direct-mail marketing.


With a more permanent space in 1971, ICS continued its copy work but envisioned the growth possibilities offered by direct mail. The company expanded production capabilities to three web presses.


Further expansion came in 1975 with the purchase of this elegant structure on Chestnut Street. ICS now occupied three of the building’s four floors and featured four web presses and an expansive bindery.


With web operations humming at a growing rate, ICS again needed more space. The company acquired the 2055 Richmond Street location. ICS now managed 45,000 square feet and the necessary shipping-and-receiving facilities that allowed for further expansion beyond the Delaware Valley.


It’s 1984 and business was booming. ICS moved its operations into a 100,000 square-foot facility down the block in the Port Richmond neighborhood. Here, the company honed its direct-response skills, adding in-house market data and mailing services to become a "one-stop shop" for prospective clients.


The suburbs beckoned. In 2017, ICS left Philadelphia for West Deptford, NJ and a magnificent facility with more than 200,000 square feet. Despite its many homes – and production of many millions of direct-mail pieces — ICS today maintains its unique culture of personal expression and innovation.


Our state of the art lettershop was designed around reducing campaign cycle times, flexibility and speed to market. Our 200,000 sq ft of space is home to our lettershop, variable data center, commingle facilites and front office spaces.

Our secondary location used for equipment, inventory and fulfillment services to support our logistics department.

ICS maintains a state-of-the-art and HIPAA compliant to protect the data assets of our clients. Using SOC2 Type 2 operating standards as our backbone, we are able to adapt our security network to meet the varied needs of the industries we serve. ICS is fully compliant with the stringent requirements of all major credit data providers, and have completed the following audit processes:
